New Store Hours Starting January 16th

January 16th, 2012

Please note that starting this week, our new winter store hours will go into effect:

By reducing the store’s hours, we can focus more on growing and maintaining the produce co-op throughout the week.  Don’t worry, though!  The store will continue to provide the healthiest and freshest local and artisan goods we can find!  See you Friday…

October 5th, 2011

We’d like to officially welcome a new local artisan to Urban Acres – Pearl Brand Artisanal Ice Cream!

If you came to our Slow Food $5 Challenge Lunch, then you most likely tried this amazing ice cream, handmade by Penelope Ryholt.  In all her ice cream, Penelope uses Texas Daily Harvest milk – the local, organic, non-homogenized, low-pasteurized milk we sell at Urban Acres.  Penelope even got to visit Texas Daily Harvest to see the farm and meet the farmers for herself!

The Pearl Brand flavors we currently have:

  • Tahitian Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Earl Grey
  • Mint Chip
  • Strawberry Lavender Sorbet

You can wipe the drool off your chin now.

About Pearl Brand…

Pearl Brand Ice Creams are lovingly handcrafted in Dallas, TX in small batches with fresh ingredients. They proudly use locally produced organic milk and cream from Texas Daily Harvest for the richest, purest flavor and never use artificial colors, flavors or fillers.

Thank you, Dallas Observer!

September 22nd, 2011

Whoa!  We’re honored!  Urban Acres won Best Hippie Meat in Dallas Observer‘s “Best Of 2011″!

The first time we walked into Urban Acres, fully expecting to find a bunch of bean patties and tofu and other bull*** meat substitutes, we instead saw a cooler full of flesh. Grass-fed, hormone-free beef. Free-range, stimulant-free chicken. Milk from cattle that weren’t pumped full of antibiotics. Eating like a caveman never felt so natural. – Dallas Observer  read the rest
